Cha Time

Ah Cha Time... What can I say about you except love you to the max!

Cha Time @ Velocity

Cha Time @ Central Park

I had been on dieting mode for the past few days but yet one thing I can't let go is drinking bubble tea. Actually it's not only about bubble tea, I love beverages, I used to always order Starbucks Lemonade Zen Tea when Jakarta hasn't been attack by so many different brands of bubble tea. I'm not sure why but every time I go to mall, I will make sure there's a cold beverage accompany me wandering.

Sadly, I never found any really yumm bubble tea in Jakarta. The thing is I like sour things for my drinks, but all the sour teas were just not sour enough. Until I met Cha Time. I knew Cha Time just a week ago when I went to Spore. On my way to Wee Nam Kee, I exit Velocity and saw Cha Time on my right near exit door, so I stopped by and order their Taiwan plum ice tea w/ aloe vera ($2,9). It was so gooood. The sour was in perfect portion, love it! Very very refreshing.

When I got back to Jakarta, I remember I heard my friend said that Cha Time had opened in Central Park and Mall Puri Indah, so the second day I got back, I quickly went to Central Park with bestie. It was located in front of May Star and crowded. I ordered Sour plum green tea w/ aloe vera (21k) and my bestie ordered Taiwan plum ice tea w/ bubble (21k). Service was awfully slow but totally worth the wait, right amount of sour plum with the refreshing tea. Yumm to the max!

Few days later I went back to Central Park and bought my self a large cup of Taiwan plum ice tea, this time the service was quick, nicely improved from the last time. Cha Time, you're definitely my favorite bubble tea so far in Jakarta.

Bakmi Coboy

Several months ago in one Saturday morning, I picked up my friend in her house. My friend's house was located inside the Pluit Sakti complex and entering the complex there were security post where they will handed us an entrance card. Being located in quite secure complex, I found it a little bit strange passing by a noodle seller (street cart vendor type) inside the neighborhood, and it was crowded. Lots of cars parked around the cart, and as it was a street vendor with only 2 small tables, I saw the customers bringing the bowl to be eaten at their cars. At that time, I was thinking I have to give it a try. I did, several morning ago.

I went with my husband around 8 something on Sunday morning, and again the place was full. The owner was a quite elder man, it was really a typical street cart noodle vendor. I saw they used a look like abandoned empty house across to put few tables in the yard. I asked the owner what did he sell, he told me he only have one type of chicken noodle (10k) with no other options, so we ordered two bowls. While waiting for our noodle, I saw there was a plastic container filled with fried meatballs (6k). We took 3 pcs and it was surprisingly yum, no smell of rancid from the cooking oil.

The noodle came, again to emphasize it was literally very standard typical noodle with minced soy sauce chicken in the top. The taste was not bad, but just so so & nothing special. Looking at the crowd, I can only say some place really must have a good feng shui.

Laksa Ny. Guat

One of my mom's favorite Laksa place opened a new branch at Pantai Indah Kapuk. Positioned in the busy dining street next to Beatrice Quarters, Laksa Ny. Guat occupied 2 ruko. They have indoor and outdoor area. It looked quiet from the outside but surprisingly when we entered the place, it was quite crowded. The interior design didn't really had anything to talk about, it was a simple dominated with red dining place. Perhaps as it was a family dining restaurant, they didn't really put much effort on the design.

We sat down and begin to order. My mom, of course chose her favorite Fish Laksa (30k), hubby chose Pecel with lontong (23k), I went with Bubur sumsum (7,5k). Laksa Ny. Guat served authentic Medanese type of food, they have a section where they displayed several kind of snacks like rujak, kolak, onde-onde, spicy chips, etc meant for sell.

The foods were served in fast mode. My mom's fish Laksa was pathetically served in such small portion, I feel like I can only see the broth without anything inside. However it was delicious, mom loved it. The broth was cooked in the right balance of sourness. My Bubur Sumsum was too sweet for my liking but it was quite ok too. My husband's Pecel came last, big portion, average taste.

Overall, I think Laksa Ny. Guat was ok for a quick lunch or dinner.

Old Airport Road Hawker Centre

One night on our way to Orchard, we took a cab from Sentosa and the driver was very friendly and chatty. He shared with us that one of his favorite hawker centre was the one at Old Airport road. So after wandering Orchard and being unsure about where to have our dinner, we decided to try on what the Uncle told us before.

It was almost 9pm when we reached there and some of the stalls were closing. Luckily there were many of them still open. The hawker centre was big, I think they have hundred stalls at least. We looked for a table and then took turn on ordering. These was our orders:

Wonton Noodle ($4) - Cho Kee Noodle stall #01-04

Fried Oyster

Seafood Dry Horfun ($4) - Hong Yun Delicacies stall #01-61

Chicken Wings

Guidance: Exit Mountbatten MRT and walk straight, you will see the hawker centre on your left, or took a cab for easier way.
