When you think of dining in a certain restaurant at a five stars hotel, pricey is usually what comes in mind. However, at Nishimura, expect to find good fresh sashimi and sushi in a quite reasonable price range.
Nishimura is located inside Shangri-La hotel and the humble interior reflects Japanese concept the moment you enter.
Appetizer
Smooth and soft Chawan Musi (Steamed egg custard)
Delicious assorted 12 pcs of beautiful looking fresh sushi
A choice of Vanilla, Matcha (green tea) or Ogura (red bean) ice cream
Aside from the Kaze set, we also had Sashimi Moriawase (290k). Three types of fresh sashimi, Maguro (tuna), Salmon and Kanpachi (yellowtail). They were all really fresh and good, pls mind the poor pictures below, my camera's battery was running low. It's a bit steep for 290k, but hey, quality over quantity right.
Their Saba Shioyaki was pretty affordable if not super. With only 100k, we got a fresh nicely cooked mackerel with a bowl of gohan and miso soup. It was unfortunate how the salt was too overpowering, if not, it would be a really good meal set.
Saba Shioyaki (Grilled mackerel with salt) 100k
The price range is not cheap if you compare to regular sushi place, but for a 5 stars quality restaurant in a 5 stars hotel, I would say their price is quite reasonable. I have been a huge fan of Shangri-La Jakarta due to its hospitality and the range of great restaurants they have. I've tried every single one of their restaurants and glad to say I'm loving them all, from the all day dining buffet, Satoo until their scrumptious Italian feast, Rosso, Shangri-La never fails and so is Nishimura.
