No Signboard Seafood Singapore

I found this blog when I was blog walking and it was one of the best Singapore food blog, http://www.ladyironchef.com/. The pictures could easily makes you drooled. A highly recommended blog to visit before you come to SG. Anyway, the reason I was blog walking was because I wanted to know which place in Spore serve the most delicious chilli crab, and Ladyironchef claimed that No Signboard Seafood had the best one.

On our way to Sentosa, we stopped by at Vivo City for lunch at No Signboard. It was quite empty but the waiter told me that they have full reservation with guests coming shortly so it took him a while to find us a table. The place was nicely designed with classy modern Chinese ambiance. We sat down and began to order. Actually No Signboard was famous for its white pepper crab rather than the chilli crab, so I chose Sri Lankan Crab cooked in 2 ways, chilli crab and white pepper crab ($100) for us to compare which one was nicer along with Superior XO sauce scallop ($25), Deep fried ginger bull frog ($30), Lemon Chicken ($20), Sambal Kangkong ($12) and 10 pcs of Mantou ($5) to eat with the chilli crab gravy

The service was very prompt, attentive and polite. I was very impressed, I don't remember getting the same service when I ate at Jakarta's branch. Ok, back to the food, Ladyironchef wasn't lying, the crab was extremely delicious. As someone who is not a fan of crab, having me to say extremely delicious was absolutely must be something worth to try. The chilli crab was so yummy, the gravy was delicious, crab was perfectly cooked and the shell was soft so we can easily break it. As for the white pepper crab, it was as good as the chilli one, they cooked it with a lot of pepper so it was spicy pepper way. Very very delicious. Now let's review the rest of the dishes, Sambal Kangkong was surprisingly nice, I thought that Singaporean can't cook anything nice with sambal, but they proved me wrong. The scallop however was so so, both bull frog and lemon nice was very nice as well, crunchy and well seasoned.

Quick fact on why it was named No Signboard Seafood.

It was a pricey lunch but with that kind of food & quality service, it was all very worth it.

Gong Cha Bubble Tea

For me personally a visit to Spore means a many visits to any bubble tea outlets they have. Too bad I only have the chance to visit two bubble tea there. I always looked for something sour when it comes to bubble tea, but not many bubble tea outlets in Jakarta who served the type of sour drink I like. They were all just to cheap on putting the plum or kumquat so it wasn't sour at all.

Gong Cha was claimed as one of the best bubble tea in Spore and one of the outlets was located in Raffles City shopping mall where linked to hotel I stayed and the two times I went there, it was always had this long queue. On my first visit, I told them that I want something sour, they recommended me Purple plum tea with Ai-yu jelly ($2,8). The Ai-yu jelly was good but not on the tea. I mean what is purple plum? It wasn't sour at all and did not blended with the tea. On my second visit, I chose Passion fruit lemon tea w/ Ai-yu jelly ($2,8). It was better than the purple plum but to be honest, I really dont know what is it that make Gong Cha so popular. I guess maybe the milk tea was good.

Revisited: Founder Bah Kut Teh

On our first night, we went to Founder Bah Kut Teh for their famous bah kut. It was located on the Balestier road next to New Orchid hotel. We were lucky as they just opened that day after CNY holiday. Luckily the queue was not too long. After we were seated, we began to order. 4 bowls of Pork ribs bah kut teh ($8), Pig's trotter ($6), Lettuce soup ($4), You tiao ($1,5) and Homemade barley ($1,2).

The bah kut teh was amazing, they use many garlic and pepper for the broth and the ribs were fat & tender. I almost wanted to order another bowl  if my tummy can still fit. I didn't try the pig's trotter as it looked frightening for me, but my folks seemed to enjoy it.

The long queue really did meant something. You can see from the wall where they pasted pictures of famous people eating there. It was the best bah kut teh I ever eaten. Love it!

Wee Nam Kee

When it comes to Spore, these 3 foods were very popular, Chicken rice, Chilli crab & Bah Kut Teh. This post will be talking about one of the most popular & crowded chicken rice in Spore, Wee Nam Kee. When I asked my Singaporean friend about which Chicken rice is the most delicious, they came with quite options from Wee Nam Kee, Tian Tian, Loy Kee or Boon Tong Kee. I happen to chose Wee Nam Kee and didn't had the chance to try others.

We went there lunch time and it was super crowded, so crowded that it was almost pain in the a** to even have a waiter came and write down our order. We tried to be patience as it was a common thing, the not so good part of eating in a popular dining place... A lottt of waiting time. When the auntie finally came to our table, we quickly order Half White chicken ($50), Half Roast Chicken ($50), Hot plate Bean curd ($12,85), Lettuce ($9,65) and Hainanese rice ($0,50).

Again a long full of hunger waiting time until our food was being served. The tofu not good, lettuce so so, chicken very nice! It was moist and soft. I finally understand all the long queue was about.

Hotel Reviews: Swissotel The Stamford Singapore

Welcoming February!

Last week, I went for a short break to Singapore with my small family. I was very happy and excited during the trip as it was the first time that all of us could go on a trip together, due to everyone busy schedule, normally if it was not only me & my family minus my husband, then it will be only me & my husband minus the family.

I was being very careful on choosing the right place to stay as my Dad can be a little bit fussy when it comes to choosing a place to sleep. Normally if I go by my self, I stayed at York Orchard due to it's strategic location and the affordable price, but York is quite old so I know Dad won't like it. After much consideration, I chose Swissotel Stamford. The hotel was very nice, classy and the location was very convenient. It was linked to Raffles City shopping mall and the City Hall MRT was located just below the hotel.

We had a wonderful stay there and I would definitely stay here again next time I visit Spore.

Totally recommended!
