328 Katong Laksa @East Coast Rd Singapore

After two days full of western & Japanese type of fusion, we ended our last day in Spore with something more original. The famous 328 Katong Laksa is one of the most talked about when you wanted to eat a nice bowl of Laksa in the hometown. Located in the east cost road, simply took a cab and say Katong Laksa at East Coast, as you will not find any MRT near there.

Artease & Share Tea Bubble Tea

Artease bubble tea

Tried: Apple rose tea (detoxifying effect) with aloe vera ($5), Oolong milk tea with custard puddings ($4), Plum green tea with mini pearls ($3).

Fact: Come with quite many selections from milk tea, fruit teas to coffee. Their branch at Orchard Cineleisure is in collaboration with a Japanese restaurant so we can have options of Japanese food to be eaten there. The pearl topping is free while the others like pudding, aloe vera, grass jelly cost around 0.5 cent to $1.

Menya Musashi Ramen @Raffles City Singapore

After wandering around and took some rest back to hotel, we decided to have our lunch at Menya Musashi (means Musashi ramen shop). They are one of the most popular rated ramen in Japan and several months ago, they opened their first branch at Raffles City. Their Shinjuku branch was always packed with customers and according to words I heard, during the opening week in Spore, long queue was always spotted, so I was very excited to try. The word ‘Musashi’ actually refers to the legendary samurai Musashi, which also explains its samurai themed logo in the decor.

Wild Honey @Scotts Square

Wild Honey is all about various kinds of all day breakfast. They have two branches at Mandarin Gallery and Scott's Square. I have been wanting to go here since my two last visits to Spore, but the wait list at Mandarin threw me off both times. Luckily, my friend mentioned to try go to the one at Scott's Square as she heard it has lesser wait list compare to the other branch and she's right. After waiting for around 20 mins we were seated with reminder that we need to leave the table in approximately 1,5 hours. The risk of dining in an always wait list cafe.

I love this branch better than the one at Mandarin, the interior is the same though, elegant modern with dim light but the one at Scott's had a balcony spot with beautiful view looking through Orchard road. Lucky for us we got the balcony spot and the weather was in favor of, quite windy. Also, they were able to took reservation via phone while the one at Mandarin didn't.

Tonkichi Tonkatsu @Ngee An City Singapore

When you browse "the best Tonkatsu in Singapore", the name Tonkichi and Ma Maison would be two often mentioned. The reason why we went for Tonkichi instead was because we were at Wisma Atria when we were discussing on what to have for dinner, and Tonkichi's location was nearer. As simple as that, a big satisfaction after.

Dean & Deluca @Orchard Central Singapore

Last week, I went for a 3 days short trip to Spore with my ex colleagues. It's really something that we are all still hanging out and pretty close with one another even though we had resigned from the company for quite some time. Sadly, two of us were not able to join the trip so it was only three of us departing from Jakarta meeting the other 1 who stays in Spore. Our main purpose for this trip besides of just hang out and having fun was food hunting! One of the girls even made a very impressive list of what we called our food itinerary since the list didn't have other agenda than food. :)

Dean & Deluca is New York's most iconic gourmet store which established on 1977 as a small grocery store in the corner of SoHo, and since then they had widely expanded into fast food & cafe chains to cities around the states and slowly branches out internationally. Spore is the 8th country to have Dean & Deluca.
Offering the best food products from around the world, the first outlet took quite space at the 4th level of Orchard Central. Designed semi open air with the classic black & white, there was an alley full of products from herbs & spices, candies & chocolates, coffee & tea and many more.

[CLOSED] Madelaine Bistro

Madelaine Bistro is a French inspired bistro located in Kemang. I have been wanting to go here for quite some time mostly because all the good words I heard about their delicious food. So, I was very excited when they were having a voucher promo on Disdus. One day before the voucher's expiry date, hubby and I went there for dinner. With traffic condition nowadays, it was a struggle to drive from our home to Kemang.

Madelaine located inside an artistic Kemang 89 building, with a furniture gallery in the same floor. The bistro was designed in a modern way with glass walls filled by pictures' illustration of French women and Eiffel tower. Concept view, it was not really my personal like although I do like the high ceiling with electric fan hanging down giving a nice air circulation to the whole room.

Raja Begor

One of my ex colleagues told me that this place had the best fried duck she ever eaten. Out of curiosity, one night my husband and I went there for dinner. The place was an old house turned into a modest and casual restaurant located in the intersection of Suryo road.

They served typical Indonesian food from fried duck, chicken, fish and ribs in soup. We chose Fried duck (29k) and Fried duck with green chilli (29k). It came with steamed fragrant rice and urap (mixed veggies). For the fried duck, we can chose two types of chilli from their selections of sambal kemangi, sambal mangga, sambal ijo, sambal korek and sambal terasi. The duck was deep fried, crisp on the skin and quite tender on the meat. The urap and fragrant rice were delicious.

Collage @Pullman Hotel Jakarta

Several weeks ago, my family and I went to Collage for dinner. We like hunting the "all you can eat" dining place in hotels, most likely because for the past two years and still going, BCA credit card* is offering an irresistible promotion of "BUY 1 GET 1" on several all you can eat dining in five stars hotel, such as Asia (Ritz Carlton), Sailendra (JW Marriot), Signature (Kempinski), Satoo (ShangriLa) and the newest one, Collage at Pullman hotel.

Just like the hotel itself, the place was also designed in a modern contemporary design. Unique rather than fancy. Personally, I think it is a good change of design concept among other hotels.

Top Yammie Chinese Rest

One night, my parents along with hubby and I went for a dinner at Top Yammie. It was a Chinese restaurant located inside an alley just beside Lindeteves Trade Centre. The place was quite big with standard interior, bright lighting and natural light wood on the furniture.

Fook Yew

Fook is fortune, Yew is friendship. FOOK YEW!

Have I mention that I adore all diners' concept under Ismaya group? Fook Yew is the newest addition as well as the very first Chinese restaurant under the group. Before I went there, I thought the place will be looking all fancy and grand, turns out the design concept was very much out of the box. I don't know maybe I'm wrong, but the first time I saw the place, I think of it as very Shanghai, particularly because of the striking red bird cage lamps hanging on the ceiling. The place was so colorful and fun, so many interesting object to adore and to get a shot at, from the funny shout outs written all over the walls, the bright color tables with also interesting shout out to read, right until the cute salt & pepper that simply so Chinese. I love it how they combine traditional Chinese into a modern unique concept. Again, the name of Ismaya seems to never fail in bringing an unique and great concept design.

About two weeks ago, we have dinner at Munchies. It was a semi open air restaurant & bar located at Gandaria City. The place was not big but it had great interior concept, they even had a flat TV showcasing all tweets mentioning them. Non smokers will not find the place comfy though, as I sat in the non smoking area but the smokes were still very strong.
