So, Mom and Dad had something to do at Johor Baru last month. Since Hubs was on business trip, I tagged along with them rather than being in the house alone. I have never been to Johor before but the city is quite close to Singapore.
1. From Changi airport - Johor Baru:
- By bus: Took a direct bus at arrival hall. It cost $7 per adult. It took around 1 hour non stop drive to Spore's Immigration. After passing through the immigration, look for bus no 950 to go to Malaysia's immigration (took 5-10 minutes).
- By MRT: Took MRT at arrival hall. Changi airport --- alight at Tanah Merah and change to Joo Kon route --- alight at City Hall and change route to red line Jurong East --- Stop at Woodlands. At Woodlands, find the bus terminal just below the building and find bus no. 950. It will drive you to Spore's Immigration (10 mins drive). After passing through the immigration, look again for bus no 950 to go to Malaysia's immigration (took 5-10 minutes drive). Overall took almost 2 hours with all the waiting and change route.
You could also stop at Kranji station, but I suggest Woodlands as the station has more shops and food. Kranji station is very remote. Anyway, looking at the 2 ways, the most easiest way would be to take the bus direct from Changi. Important note: The bus only comes 1 time per 1 hour and they don't wait. So if you skipped one, you have to wait for another hour. For the bus schedule, you can ask information at Changi.
2. From City - Johor Baru:
- By bus: Took bus no CW2 at Queen street, Bugis Area to take you all the way to Spore's immigration. Several stops along the way.
- By MRT: Go to Woodlands station. At Woodlands, find the bus terminal just below the building and find bus no. 950. It will drive you to Spore's Immigration (10 mins drive). After passing through the immigration, look again for bus no 950 to go to Malaysia's immigration (took 5-10 minutes drive).
- From Malaysia's immigration, after passing through, go down look for bus no. 950 to Woodlands or 170 to Kranji station. From the station, just took MRT or bus to your destination.
It might look complicated, but actually it's really simple. I always love how Spore's transportation system is so easy. So, we spent a night at Johor and leave to Spore the next day after Mom and Dad finished their business and here's a quick review of what we ate.

I'm pretty sure almost everyone has known Wee Nam Kee, one of the most popular Hainanese chicken rice in town. It used to locate at Novena before moved to United Square. The new location inside the mall is better with the air-con and clean space. I still think Wee Nam Kee's has the most solid chicken taste. The rice is fragrant and moist. The chicken is crazily tender. On the table is White chicken (half portion) $16, roasted chicken (quarter) $8.5, spinach ($8) and hainanese rice ($0.8). All in all, $38 well spent.
K-KI
Address: 1 Zubir Said Drive #02-01
Inside SOTA (School of the Arts Singapore)

Opening hours: Daily 12pm - 8pm
Nearest MRT: Dhoby Ghaut
K-KI is not something new, but they just reopened after their first outlet at Ann Siang Hill closed down. The new store inside SOTA is bigger than previous one. Inside you'll find display of cakes selections and nothing else but cakes. If you like soft Japanese cakes, you must go to K-KI. I had their Nao ($9.8), a pretty strawberry mousse cake. Just by the look of it, I know how soft the cake is and I was so right. As I sliced the cake, I could see pitaschio cream in the centre and thin layer of raspberry jam. The cake was amazingly light and airy. Super super very good! The Kinabaru ($8.8) is a light coconut mousse with passion fruit creme. Though I enjoyed Nao better, but this one was also as delightful as the first one. I must say that K-KI makes a serious cakes. So recommended!
TIONG BAHRU BAKERY
Address: Raffles City Shopping Centre B1-11/12
252 North Bridge Road
Opening hours: Daily 8am - 10pm
Nearest MRT: City Hall
Tiong Bahru is one of the bakery in town which grown popularity for their croissants. Though I love breads, but croissant normally isn't my first choice. My kinds of bread mostly sourdough, but Tiong Bahru's croissant made an exception. Honestly, the plain croissant was good but not memorable good for me. The Almond croissant ($3.8) on the other hand, was really really good. Flaky on the inside, but crisp on the outside, I find the almond sugar addictive.
