GeorgPeck Indonesia

It's been a while since I wrote a full post on bubble tea. Normally, I will only include the new one I tried into the bubble tea list, but I feel like this one need a self coverage in Ivy's life.Yes, it is that good.

The first time I heard and knew about GeorgPeck was from some friends' IG photos. They were all raving on Georgpeck's Fresh tomato with honey iced blended. My curiosity was raised although not so much as it used to be when it comes to new bubble tea, as most of those new bubble teas came to disappointment to me. Lack of flavor, nothing worth to drink twice.

Dakasi: Bright shiny stars from Taiwan

Tuesday night...
During Keeping up with the Kardashians...
Beep beep
Got a bb message from a friend of mine,
"Hey why your recent posts lately cover those places at PIK only? Don't you go anywhere further than that place?"

I smirked, replied...
"You talk to your new governor, tell him to do something with that traffic on his 7k highway, then I'll start to review all kinds of new places you want".

I noticed. Guilty as charged, I have not really been myself lately. I never like the traffic in Jakarta, but it used to never stop me from hunting new cafes in town.
These couple months, just the thought of getting the car out of garage, side by side with those traffic easily convinced me to change my mind from having lunch at south to randomly sauteed whatever I can find inside the fridge.

I'm not a grumpy, I know that traffic jam is a done deal package for people living in Jakarta. I used to not really bother by it, but lately I don't know man... Is it just me who thinks the traffic just getting worse and worse?

So, for the time being... Please bare with me when my post mostly limit to cover places at PIK. ;)

[CLOSED] Xi Men Ding

Xi Men Ding is a Taiwanese cuisine concept franchised from Singapore, brought to Jakarta by the same management who owns Pancious. The restaurant took the previous place of Hoka Hoka Bento at Senayan City. During their opening quite months ago, the place was reviewed in most magazines and media online in Jakarta and I have been wanting to come here since. Back then, when I went to Taipei for holiday, Xi Men Ding was one of the place I went several times. It was not a restaurant in Taipei, but more to a place mostly known as the Harajuku of Tai Pei. It is a pedestrian area which eventually emerging into street market fill with fashions to local street foods. The nickname of Taipei's Harajuku was given due to their major crowds for locals and tourists.

[CLOSED] Little Taiwan

Many things can be done to ease the stress. One of my way is by having my own "me time". I love having a me time. Go anywhere I want, sleep all day, eat anywhere I want, anything I want to do just by my self. One of "me time" moment I enjoy is to go by my self to mall and just wandering around without a purpose. Some of my friends think it was weird to go eat or walk around alone, but I personally find it relaxing.

Cha Cha Bubble Tea

Spotted another new bubble tea originated from the bubble tea country, Taiwan. Located at the 4th floor of Pluit Village next to Shilin. I love what they did with the menu board, it was sketchy and colorful to look at. They have selections of fresh tea, milk tea, fresh milk and ice blended with various unique flavor that I haven't found in other bubble tea's brand such as Irish cream, butterscotch, creme brulee, tiramisu and marshmallow. I was going to try one of the unique one's when I saw they also have one of my favorite tea flavor which is rose, so for my first attempt I tried Rose black tea with pop passion fruit boba (21k) and my friend chose Oolong milk tea with egg pudding (21k).

[RELOCATED] Bobabits by Auntie Betsie

A friend of mine told me about this recently opened bubble tea and Taiwan street snacks named Bobabits in Pantai Indah Kapuk. As soon as I heard, I have this urge to try it immediately. I always am fan of bubble tea and to add Taiwan street snacks into it just make me want to try even more. So this afternoon, on my way to PIK hospital to get my medical check up result, I stopped by at Bobabits for a take away.

The place was located few ruko away from Smokey Ribs. As I parked my car in front of Bobabits, I saw this cute patio design with green chairs and white table with big umbrella in each table. Stepping in, the place was dominated with white and green. Cute was the first thing popped in my mind looking at the interior of the place.

Taiwan Dian Xin

After reading the review on Anak Jajan, I was very eager to try as I love Taiwan snack and can never get enough of bubble tea. As Pluit Village was not far from my home, I went there with my best friend on a weekday afternoon. The joy of not having to work 9-6. ;)

My friend was not that excited as she said she had passed that place several times and the menu on display wasn't even looked interesting, but stubborn drooling me insisted! I ordered the Taipei 101 combo (45k) for sharing where we can picked 1 main dish + 1 side dish + 1 drink. We chose Mushroom combo as the main dish, crispy corn for the side and bubble milk tea for the drink. For me, I added a Taiwan winter melon tea (12k).

Just like Shilin, I think the seasoning powder was way too many MSG, the kind of snacks that are not good to be eaten too many times. The mushroom was covered with too many flour, while I found the corn was quite ok. I was not crazy about them, but overall it was not bad. Couple days later, I went to Pluit Village for another purpose and stop by for their Osmantheus Tea (12k) and Crispy chicken popcorn (22k). Comparing between Taiwan winter melon tea and Osmantheus tea, I like the second one better as it was more refreshing, winter melon was too sweet for my taste. From my 2 visits, I think their beverages were better than the snacks.
