Hubby and I had been talking about Spanish food a while ago, but I didn't really know which one good until one day I saw Pak Bondan's TV show where he went to Tapas Movida for their Paella. Unfortunately, it was located at Cipete area, far from where we live and well known for the traffic, so we sort of delay the visit until last Saturday night, it was around 8 something when we thought we were just gonna stay home due to a tiring afternoon. Hubby was sleeping after he got back until almost 8, woke up and mentioned about Tapas Movida. I wonder if he had a dream on us going for a vacation to Spain. Hola!
The place was not hard to find, it located near Sambarra and across 7 Eleven. It looked like an old house transformed to a small dining, the place was not spacious, designed with brick and wood with not many tables to sit. Reservation is definitely recommended.
Anyway, they have an event that night so it was super noisy with all the crowds & loud Spanish music. I saw people from MNC TV were pacing back and forth with their cameras. They have indoor and outdoor area, we were aiming for the outdoor as the event was held indoor, but they were full so we had to sit indoor and bare with the loud voice. The service was good, though. They were fast, attentive and polite, the manager even came to our table to apologize for the inconvenience caused by all the noises.
We ordered Panceta asada (75k), this roast pork belly was superb. hands down, the best pork belly I've eaten so far. It was so juicy and tender, yet the skin was so crisp. Very very delicious! The next one, we ordered their Paella de marisco (295k), it was this famous Spanish yellow rice cooked with chicken and seafood. The waiter informed us that the Paella will took around 30 minutes to be served.
Waiting in hunger and suffered from all the fuss, our Paella finally came after approximately 45 minutes. It was huge! Served in a big hot pan, with all the greens, red and yellow, the paella looked very much tempting. Upon ordering, the waiter mentioned that it was meant for 4 persons, I think it can be eaten up to 8 persons. Before I saw the paella, I thought that the price was quite pricey, but it was not. As it was very large portions, filled with lots of generous green mussels, squid, shrimp and six big cuts of chicken.
To me, it was not bad but it wasn't as good as it looked. As the rice was too mushy and cooked way too salty, but my husband enjoyed it very much. Will I be back? Yes. For the delicious Panceta asada and the famous Tapas that we haven't tried yet.
