Mie Alip

A bowl of noodle to start my Sunday

About a month ago, I saw the review about "Mie Alip" in a magz focusing on mostly Jakarta's culinary, Yuk Makan!. It was written in the review that the noodle was famous for the super crowded patrons buzzing in for the delicious noodle.

Since it was located in a street I am familiar with, a week ago in a Sunday morning I went there with my mom hoping for a bowl of delicious breakfast. It was 9 something and the review was not exaggerating, the crowd was massive. Mie Alip was a very casual small eatery, the ruko was only 2 meters wide located beside motorcycle shops majored in Sawah Besar area.

We ordered their Bakmi Komplit (24k) with beef balls and chicken dumplings. As always, I asked them to have my noodle half cooked as I like it firm, not slimmy and mushy. Gladly, even though it was buzzing with customers, they were all very attentive and friendly. Noodles came in quite large portion. Noodle was firm, generous mushroom and chicken toppings. However, I was not sure it was my personal favorite. Both my mom and I thought it was lack of seasoning, dumpling skin was too thick and the beef balls was floury.

Even with all the crowds, the friendly mbak even told me that I came in a time where it was not so crowded. She said usually it was so crowded that they can't hardly walk freely. Gosh!

Overall, it was not really suited my taste but looking at the crowds, surely the place has their loyal patrons. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, please do try and let me know what you think. ;)

This noodle is very yummy, but you have to eat it fast.. The first noodle come to your mouth is so great! Must try, but I don't think it's Halal..
