Residents of PIK, be happy, now you can get your seafood craving fixed just nearby! Cabe Ijo is not a new name in the seafood department. The restaurant has been established for years and even going strong with their new outlets in Pluit and PIK. If you know Shirayuki desserts, they are located in the same location. Double happy news, as you can satisfy both your seafood and dessert cravings. *wink*

HOOLALA CHICKEN GANDARIA CITY JAKARTA
When it comes to fried chicken, personally I am always leaning towards more to Korean type of fried chicken rather than American. I won't say no to KFC or McDonalds, I mean, who would? I'm just saying that in terms of personal choice, I like the Korean way better when it comes to fried chicken as they can make it less greasy and oily.

Loobie Lobster & Shrimps
Loobie Lobster & Shrimps is another brainchild from the genius talented couple, Chef Atit and Lucy, the owner of Holy Cow! and Holy Gyu!. Offering the same "pocket friendly" concept, Loobie has been happily welcomed by all seafood lovers in town. They have opened for quite some time with the first outlet at Gunawarman street, right beside Turkuaz and across Le Quartier. The second outlet took place next to Holy Gyu! at Panglima Polim and customers are allowed to order both menu from each diners.

[CLOSED] Lobster Inc
Lobster Inc is another newbie at Pantai Indah Kapuk specialized in lobster with budget friendly price tags. It is so good to see more variety of cuisines besides cafe with more or less the same type of food. I have always wanted to try Loobie Lobster, the one opened by the same people behind Holycow, but the location is quite far, bummer.

[CLOSED] Somboon Thai Seafood
Through out all my buying trips for Lemon, one place I have always wanted to go but never had the chance was the famous Somboon seafood. The three attempts to go there always failed, from the tuk - tuk driver took us to the wrong seafood place until the so many taxi drivers who couldn't seem to know where this so called the most famous seafood in Bangkok. So I gave up until around three weeks ago, I found out a new Thai seafood named Somboon opened at pX Pavilion. Very excited! Couple weeks ago I dragged my parents and husband to dine there on a Saturday night.

Aroma Dermaga Seafood
The other day, one of my friend popped a questions, "How often you eat at PIK area?". My answer, more than pretty often.
To me apart from it was located not far from where I live, I enjoy the casual environment along with variety of foods they offered. Having a voucher to use definitely an extra bonus. Those were some of the reasons of me not hesitating on purchasing the voucher from disdus.com when I saw Aroma Dermaga's promo on their site a while ago.

Patong Seafood
On our last buying trip, we managed to squeeze some time to Phuket for a break. Hubby always has this thing a for beach so we went for Phuket to have a tour to the famous Phi Phi Island. I will share about this on my blog later. We talk about food first. ;)
On our last night in Phuket, we went for a seafood dinner. At first, I was aiming to look for a street hawker seafood, as I always feel that Rupiah actually had value in Bangkok, all the foods were cheap, and I guess I wanted to feel the same thing on Phuket, but after wandering the streets in Patong, we didn't found such place so we gave up and enter a seafood restaurant with signage "Patong Seafood. Best seafood since 1979" right across Patong beach, the place was crowded so we figured it shall be good.

They restaurant was huge with classic old wood design, not really have anything to comment on. Looking at the menu, they served both Italian and selections of seafood. After looking through the menu, we chose Stir fried clams with chilli paste and sweet basil leaves (THB 180), Fried squid with garlic & pepper (THB 490), Deep fried fish with garlic & pepper (THB 550), Fried chicken wrapped with pandanus leaves (THB 180) and Spicy soup with mixed seafood (THB 180). Yes, it was a lot for just us two. We didn't even noticed and just keep ordering until all the foods served and we were like, Gosh how to eat all this? And yes we end up on take away.

I wouldn't review one by one on the food, to me the place was way too pricey. The fish not even fresh even though the rest of the dishes was quite ok. There's a section for us to chose our self for the size and weight of the squid and fish, all of them were quite big that was meant for minimum 3 persons. The only dish that we loved was the squid, it was to die for. Crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside.
The next day on our way to airport we saw many other seafood restaurants if we just walk further from Patong beach.

Seafood S.F.6
I went for lunch at Seafood S.F.6 yesterday. The place was located at Pantai Mutiara and it was near the famous Bakmi Sakaw @Cafe Dermaga. If it was not because of my parents just ate here with their friends and told me about this place, I wouldn't have known as they didn't really have any signboard and it really looked like an abandoned warehouse from outside. My parents told me they have a great seafood dinner there and the place was always full house every night.
When I reached there, it was around 2pm and the place was not crowded yet. Entering through what it look like a warehouse, we walked along these counters where fresh fish, prawns, clams and crabs were put inside aquariums that we can chose directly for our fresh seafood. Walking through, they have dining chairs in the dock where we can just dine next to the beach. Is it beach? Hmmm... well at least there were waters. It was nice, we can feel the wind blows and air breeze.
Anyway, there were 3 of us and we ordered Ikan bawal bakar kecap (154k @22k/ounce), Cumi saos padang (40k), Kangkung cah terasi (17k), Kerang bambu tauco (35k) and Tahu isi (18k). The fish was very well seasoned, I can't stop licking my spoon for the seasoning. The squid padangnese sauce however was a disappointment. It was too sweet where I thought Padangnese sauce should be more to spicy than sweet. Isn't it? All the dishes were cooked delicious but my favorite was the clams. It was superb. It came in big size portions and the Tauco sauce was extremely good. I really recommend the clams to be a must order dish. Looks like my parents does have quite seafood taste. Oh yes, don't order the Tofu, it was hideous, no prawns and the vegetables inside were not in good taste.

Seafood lovers... This place is truly recommended. Please take note on the opening hours though as they have break off hours.

Menega Cafe @Jimbaran beach Bali
After we checked in, we went for swimming in the pool and walk to Jimbaran beach and turns out it was only walking distance to Menega seafood. It was already crowded with people. I think they were all eating while waiting for sunset.
It was around 5pm when we finished ordering and it took forever for our orders to be served. At first, we didn't really notice as we were enjoying the beach view but when our stomach were starting to give the hungry code, we were surprised to see the time had past 1 hour so my husband went in and asked the waiter about our food, and he hasn't even finished asking when the waiter just shut him and told us to just wait. Between hungry and angry, we waited again. Another 1 hour, we asked them again and another unfavorable replied was received. We were losing patience and about to ask for the bill to pay for our drinks when the meals finally served. 2 hours 10 minutes! It was literally the longest time we ever waited for our orders to be served.

We also ordered fried snapper but I forgot to took the pictures. Overall, beside the fish, I think the meals was ok but I will definitely never putting my foot again in this place, not only because the servings took forever, but because the waiters were insanely arrogant and rude.

Sriayudhya Seafood Market
My husband and I went for a short trip to Bangkok recently. It was a business trip so we didn't have many chances to do food hunting. =(
One night, a friend of my husband told us that we must try this popular seafood named Somboon Seafood. As he said that it was not far from the hotel we stayed in, we took Tuk Tuk there. The Tuk Tuk driver claimed to know the place, but after a 5 minutes ride, he took us to different seafood place. He finally admit he didn't know where Somboon was. Sigh! As we were starving, so we went along to the one this Tuk Tuk driver took us, that he claimed to be the best seafood in town.
The place was empty when we came, it was a big restaurant and there were only 2 tables filled. There was a section where we can chose the seafood directly. We ordered Steam blood clam, grilled BBQ squid, chilli lemon fish ponfret, BBQ prawn and a plate of mixed vegetables. They were all delicious! The clams were big, not small ones like we mostly had in Jakarta's seafood place. The squid was grilled perfectly, the fish ponfret's broth was tasty, very refreshing with sour and sweet taste. They gave us chilli garlic with lemon for the dipping sauce, it was perfect but quite expensive. I cannot recall the individual price, but the total bill was 3067 bath, around IDR 920,000. It was worth it.
