One of my friends who stayed in Spore told me that Hatched is one of those breakfast places which less known by tourist but well known by the locals. I figured, if the place was well known by locals, it should be a good one. So the next morning, we went to Hatched for our breakfast.
Hatched has two branches in Spore, one is located at Evans road, another one at Holland Village. We went to the later one as it was easier to reached by MRT. When we arrived around 9 something, the place was still empty as they just opened, but soon it was packed up by locals, just like my friend said, we didn't see any tourist during our 1 hour breakfast. The place designed with unfinished ceiling with yellow light bulbs hanging down, a natural wood color furniture and a black board filled with chalks' writings and drawings.
We decided to have each from their savory and sweet selections. We chose
Usual suspect (two eggs, bacon or ham sausage, baked beans, sauteed
potatoes, toast and choice of coffee or tea) $16, and from the sweet
corner, the staff recommended us with Sleepover hatched special (french
toast with maple syrup, grilled bananas and streaky bacon) $12.
The good part was, both came fast and in large portions. The not so good part was they tasted pretty ordinary. I didn't fancy the usual suspect, the toast was standard white bread, scrambled eggs were so so, the potatoes were overcooked and nothing special on the beans and sausages. The sleepover was better. I do like the french toast, esp when it was drizzled with the maple syrup, but we left the bacon aside, it just felt too weird pairing bacon with sweet dish.
To me, Hatched comes with friendly staffs, prompt serving, big portion and quite affordable price range from $12 - $20. However, aside from that, I don't see any reasons for me to go back twice.

Hello, nice review. I've been to Hatched once, not really impressed with the breakfast menu. My favorites are still the one in Social House back home :p.
